12”x12” mixed media on encaustic, 2020 April. I created this painting in recognition that self-importance is an illusion. Wealth, fame and success don’t necessarily bring any meaning or purpose. Whatever one discovers as a scientist or invents as a business leader most likely can and will be done by someone else. It may be a matter of days, months or years – but there will always be competition. The world keeps moving forward and innovation is an inevitable consequence of human evolution. I like to be grateful and just flow life - I enjoy the privilege of being first, if fortunate enough. The only significant impact one may make is on the lives of their loved ones. They won’t be around forever… money will always be.
