„Reincarnation Dream”

20”x24” encaustic/ mixed media, 2020 April. I played with those magnets and iron filings again! Embedding the filings into the hot wax preserves the displayed magnetic fields, and thus the magnets taped on the back of the panel can be removed once the molten wax hardens.
Those who have been close to me know that I’m talking about wanting to be a tree in my next life repeatedly. I admire trees for resilience, strength and resistance to injuries and diseases. Unfortunately for me, I am a scientist and atheist and I don’t really believe in the afterlife. However, I am also a painter who still believes in art and imagination, and that fantasy can take me wherever I want to be - through color, shape and texture.
